Happy Saturday! I hope you’ve been able to enjoy post-holiday festivities with your friends and family. My week has been…well, a little bit slower and…err, sneezy than expected. On Wednesday, a pesky bug hit me, so the past couple days have been spent cooped up inside fighting a fever and watching way too many Downton Abbey re-runs. I’ve also been plugged into Pandora, as my family members have deemed post-holiday Christmas music-listening a no-go.
I say ba humbug! I’m easing myself off holiday music because going cold turkey would surely send me on the fast track to a case of the post-holiday blues. Besides, I’m a firm believer that you should listen to whatever you feel like listening to, and despite feeling physically lousy, I’m definitely still filled with Christmas cheer.

I was a bit too optimistic when I made plans to meet my best high school friend—and summer bride-to-be—for sushi and wedding chat last night. We wanted to discuss the dinner menu (buffalo brisket is the leading contender, as the wedding is in Montana!), as well as my maid of honor duties and her bachelorette party. However, when 6:00 rolled around, the thermometer was still refusing to budge. A night at home it had to be.
However I was not willing to give up on the idea of sushi! Since my stomach was feeling a bit off, I erred on the safe side and ordered a simple California Roll – an old stand-by.
What showed up at the door, however, was a very glammed up California roll! Actually, I’m pretty certain the delivery man grabbed the wrong bag. I’d requested brown rice, avocado and crab. The mystery roll inside my box contained white rice, salmon, crab, and red pepper, and was topped with avocado, shrimp and -the real kicker – sriracha.
Even though it wasn’t what I’d originally ordered, this roll looked way too delicious to pass up. And boy was I right; the flavors came together SO well! The spicy kick provided by the sriracha was a new-to-me variation that I’ll certainly be eating again.
I enjoyed every blissful bite, with one exception: the salmon roe. I still get the heeby jeebies thinking about eating fish eggs! Please tell me there are a few fellow wimpy sushi eaters out there?
The rest of the night was spent cozied up on the couch with my mom, watching one of my favorite chick flicks.
It never gets old! I love Kate Hudson.

The last few days haven’t been entirely lazy, though. Since I’m staying away from the gym, I’ve taken my workouts to the kitchen. And the computer. And the stomach.
Okay, that’s a pretty desperate attempt to segue into the remainder of this post. A for effort? Today I’m rolling with The Saturday Six. It’s like the Friday Five, but with one extra bullet point. How’s that for creative?
The Saturday Six
1. What I’m Baking: Cloud Bread. I saw this idea on Pinterest, and couldn’t help but give it a go. It’s so easy! Three ingredients: eggs, cream cheese (or cottage cheese) and stevia.
2. What I’m Pinning: Toasted Sesame Salmon. Possibly the most delicious-looking salmon I’ve ever seen.
3. What I’m Reading: The Downton Abbey Cookbook. This was the first book I downloaded on my iPad. I’m serious. I can’t wait for the show’s season premiere in a few weeks!
4. What I’m Crunching: Seaweed Snacks. Nothing clears the sinuses like a good dose of wasabi!
5. What I’m Searching For: Limited Edition Pringles. I’m only half kidding. I bet these would be even better made with sweet potatoes!
6. What I’m Considering: The Blonde Bob. I haven’t had short hair since I was in 7th grade. Yay or nay?
And before I go…a random dose of inspiration. Just because.
Live YOUR truth.
Have a wonderful weekend, friends!

I want to know…
What’s your go-to sushi order?
I usually roll (pun completely intended…har har) with sashimi or brown rice sushi, but have made peace with white rice as well.
Favorite sick day chick flick?
Is anyone else still listening to Christmas music?
Do you prefer your hair short or long? To bob or not to bob?
I’m so tempted!
